THE EARL OF MANSFIELDasked His Majesty's Government whether they will state the number of workers now employed by the North of Scotland Hydro-Electric Board on their projects in the Pitlochry area, and what proportion of these are respectively Scotsmen and Irishmen.
§ LORD MORRISONThe number of workers employed by the North of Scotland Hydro-Electric Board as at May on the Tummel-Garry project was 680, excluding prisoners of war. Of this number 86 per cent. were Scotsmen and 10 per cent. were of Irish origin. So far as is known, all the persons of Irish origin were previously engaged on public works in Great Britain, and none has been brought over from Ireland especially for the Board's work.
