§ 75. Mr. Keelingasked the Minister of Health whether his attention has been drawn to the fact that, owing to the greatly enhanced cost of maintenance and repairs, local authorities are raising the rents of their houses although private owners are prevented by the Rent Restriction Acts from doing so; and whether he will instruct local authorities to refrain from raising rents of council houses.
§ Mr. BevanI am aware that a number of local authorities have made some increases in rents for this reason. The 263W control and management of local authority houses are vested in them by statute and I have no power to intervene.
