asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many chief constables have been appointed since 1939; and, of these, how many had been through the Police College.

Since 1st January, 1939, 95 appointments of chief constables have been made in the county and borough forces. Eleven of the officers appointed had been through the Metropolitan Police College.
