asked the President of the Board of Trade what were the respective quantities of merino yarns used by the woollen cloth trade and the hosiery trade for 1946.

Actual quantities for merino yarns separately are not readily available, but the proportions were roughly two-thirds to weaving and one-third to hosiery.
