§ Mr. D. J. Williamsasked the Minister of Transport what is the estimated cost of the proposed new road between Ystradgynlais, Breconshire, and Onllwyn, Glamorganshire; how this cost is to be met; and when it is expected that operations will commence on this project.
§ Mr. BarnesThis scheme involves difficult engineering works and when it was first proposed it was thought that the cost would be of the order of £200,000, of which 75 per cent, would be met from the Road Fund, 20 per cent. from the Exchequer under the Distribution of Industry Act, 1945, and the remaining 5 per cent. by the County Councils of Glamorgan and Brecon. As a result of a survey, I am now advised that the cost is likely to be of the order of £300,000, and I have the whole matter under review.
