Mr. Osborneasked the Minister of Education if he will grant permission for children in rural areas, as instanced by the correspondence from Lincolnshire sent to him, to travel on school omnibuses to attend any school en route, provided accommodation for the longest distance children is not prejudiced.
§ Mr. TomlinsonThe transport arrangements for each area are a matter for the local education authority in the first instance, and my permission is not required to enable vacant places in school buses to be filled in the manner suggested. I am writing to the hon. Member about the Lincolnshire case which he brought to my attention.
