§ Dr. Segalasked the Minister of Food whether he is aware that bread-rationing coupons are difficult to cut out and frequently lost owing to their small size; and if he will undertake to issue the new ration books with perforations, in order to minimise these difficulties.
§ Mr. StracheyI realise that the G, J and F coupons to which my hon. Friend70W no doubt refers are awkward to handle and they have been increased in size in the new ration books which are now being printed. Even with ordinary wear and tear of ration books, if pages were perforated coupons would become detached or inadvertently torn out and many would be lost. Moreover, it is not possible to effect perforation at the same time as the printing. A separate operation would be involved and this would delay production of the books. For these reasons I regret that I am unable to adopt my hon. Friend's suggestion.
