§ 81. Sir A. Gridleyasked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware of the inconvenience caused to the rail and road undertakings when industrial establishments working a five-day week have no staff available to take deliveries of goods on Saturdays; and what steps he is taking to get over these difficulties so as to avoid fruitless journeys and expense.
§ Mr. G. R. StraussYes, Sir. All Government Departments in such circumstances have been asked to ensure that staff are available for reception of goods. A request to industry to make similar arrangements is being made through the regional boards. I cannot urge too strongly the need for such arrangements to avoid waste of transport facilities.
