HC Deb 14 March 1947 vol 434 c252W
Mr. Asterley Jones

asked the Minister of Education whether he will reconsider his decision not to authorise a steel permit for the proposed new junior-mixed primary school at Stevenage, Hertfordshire; and whether he is aware that the existing school is about 112 years old and that the conditions are most unsatisfactory.

Mr. Tomlinson

The provision of the proposed new primary school at Stevenage must be considered in connection with the New Town proposals, and it is not possible at present to authorise steel for its erection on the grounds of the age and condition of the existing schools.
