§ 90. Mr. Hardyasked the Minister of Health if he is aware that many contractors and landlords of cottage property in Salford are not able to obtain timber, lead or cast-iron fittings for necessary repairs; that these materials are not available to the local authority; and if he will take steps for materials to be provided to make these poor cottage properties reasonably habitable.
§ Mr. J. EdwardsEssential repairs to houses receive priority for materials, but supplies of timber, lead and certain cast-iron components are at present insufficient to meet all demands. My right hon. Friend has advised housing authorities to use alternative materials wherever practicable.
