§ 81 Sir W. Smithersasked the President of the Board of Trade how much power-station machinery has been shipped to the U.S.S.R. during the year ended 28th February, 1947, and how much is still on order or in the process of being shipped; and, in view of the shortage of power plant in Britain, if he will cancel all further shipments.
§ Mr. H. WilsonDetailed information for the year ended 28th February, 1947, is not available, but from the middle of 1945 until the 1st December, 1946, the heavy electrical plant industry in this country delivered 261,000 Kilowatts of plant for the U.S.S.R. This represented the balance of wartime orders. Orders on hand for the U.S.S.R. at the 1st December, 1946, amounted to 74,000 Kilowatts. I cannot agree to cancel further shipments as suggested.
