HC Deb 04 March 1947 vol 434 cc54-5W
Mr. De la Bère

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether some immediate steps will be taken to provide labour to lift sugar beet since many farmers in parts of Worcestershire are complaining of lack of labour; and why the German prisoner-of-war labour, which could be utilised, is not made available.

Mr. T. Williams

Priority has been given by the Worcestershire War Agricultural Executive Committee to the supply of labour for the lifting of sugar beet, and I understand from the committee that they have met all requests made to them for such labour.
