HC Deb 04 March 1947 vol 434 c33W
Lord John Hope

asked the Minister of Pensions what was the total amount paid to British ex-Servicemen in disability pensions for the year 1946; and what amount has been allocated for such pensions for the year 1947.

Mr. Wilfred Paling

The estimated expenditure for the year 1946–47 is £48,890,000, and for the year 1947–48 £52,405,000.

Mr. Granville

asked the Minister of Pensions whether it is proposed to increase disability pensions of officers and men of the 1914–18 war in view of the high cost of living.

Mr. Wilfred Paling

The basic rates of disablement pensions for 1914 world war pensioners are the same as those for 1939 world war pensioners and were reviewed by the Government just over a year ago. Since then there has been no general change in circumstances to justify any further revision.
