asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer under what terms His Majesty's Government have agreed to the purchase by the Brazilian Government of British holdings in Brazilian railways; what is the total purchase price; and in what currency will the purchase price be paid.

The properties of the Sao Paulo Railway Company -in Brazil are being purchased, in accordance with the terms of their concession, by the Brazilian Government for £6,639,000. The Company are in negotiation with the Brazilian Government over an additional claim.
