HC Deb 04 March 1947 vol 434 cc40-1W
80. Commander Noble

asked the Secretary of State for War how many A.T.S. are now employed in the London area and on what duties; how many are employed in provost duties; and when it is expected to derequisition the Sloane Court accommodation.

Mr. Bellenger

There were, on r4th February, 1947, 3,923 A.T.S. officers and auxiliaries stationed in the London Area. Of this number 2,517 were employed with units and formations in Central London, including the War Office and 1st Anti-Aircraft Group. The balance of 1,406 were employed and accommodated in the suburbs and Home Counties. The strength of the A.T.S. Provost Section in London District is 34. I regret it is unlikely that it will be possible to derequisition the Sloane Court accommodation until the early part of next year.
