Macdonaldasked the Minister of Works whether he is aware that there is a shortage of cement and other building materials in the Isle of Wight which is holding up housing schemes; and whether, in view of the shortage of houses in the Isle of Wight, he will take steps to bring about an increased supply of these materials.
§ Mr. KeyThe cement shortage has affected a number of areas, but I am not aware of any serious shortage of other materials in the Isle of Wight. My regional officers will be ready to assist any builder who has difficulty in obtaining materials for the construction of houses in the Island.
