Marshallasked the President of the Board of Trade whether, in view of the urgent need for more edible gelatine to assist in providing greater variety in food dishes, he can now see his way to allow increased imports of this commodity and thus permit larger consumer licences to be granted.
§ Sir S. CrippsImport licences for gelatine are granted freely subject to a price ceiling agreed with importers. I have recently received representations from importers for the removal of the ceiling, but I am not satisfied on the evidence that this would mean any appreceable increase in imports.
