§ 97. Mr. Keelingasked the Minister of Supply whether he is aware of the handicap imposed on industry by the time required for delivery of printing machinery which is from one and a half to three years according to the type of machine; to what extent this is due to exports of such machinery; and whether he will make a statement.
42W
§ Mr. WoodburnDelay in the delivery of these machines is due in part to the shortage of steel. In deciding the export quota account has to be taken of the needs of British printers on the one hand and of the necessity of establishing and maintaining overseas markets on the other. The present quota is reasonable and is reviewed from time to time in conjunction with my right hon. and learned Friend the President of the Board of Trade.
