§ Mr. Lawasked the Minister of Health, if he will consider controlling the selling price of small houses built before the war, in view of the fact that in many cases a 300 to 400 per cent. increase in price is being asked for houses which cost under g1000 before the war.
§ Mr. BevanThe general subject was considered by the Inter-departmental Committee on the Selling Price of Houses whose report (Cmd. 6670) was published in August, 1945. In view, however, of the practical difficulties involved, to which the Committee themselves drew attention, there is at present no prospect of legislation to implement the recommendations they made.
