§ Mr. BottomleyMy noble Friend is advised that very considerable and most encouraging progress has been made under the Native Land Settlement scheme. Eighty-one per cent. of the landless population will benefit from the scheme, which provides eventually for the settlement of 4,400 families. It is hoped that all the families will be permanently settled by 1956.
