§ Mr. Asterley Jonesasked the Minister of Transport when he proposes to give his approval to the imposition of a speed limit of 30 m.p.h. at Cottered, Hertfordshire, the application for approval having been sent to him by the Hertford County Council in August, 1946.
§ Mr. BarnesI regret the delay in dealing with this application. The length of road is only partly built-up and the traffic is light. During 1945 and 1946 no accident occurred on the road, and the only accident during the past six months was due to a vehicle skidding during icy conditions. I do not consider, therefore, that the imposition of a speed limit is justified and the county council is being informed accordingly.
