§ 63. Mr. Prescottasked the President of the Board of Trade how many automatic looms have been imported from Japan; at what cost; from what agency; in what currency they were paid for; and what further importations of this nature are contemplated.
§ Mr. BelcherNone; but arrangements are in hand for importing 192 new automatic looms from Japan at a cost of £105 f.o.b. per loom. The looms will be procured through the Supreme Commander for the Allied Powers and payment will be made in accordance with the terms of financial arrangements for trade with Japan at present under negotiation in Washington.
