HL Deb 14 July 1947 vol 150 cc629-30WA
LORD MANCROFT

asked His Majesty's Government, whether they will state their policy for the provision of bands in Regular and Territorial units of the Army.

THE MINISTER OF CIVIL AVIATION (LORD NATHAN)

It is hoped to follow the same general policy in the provision of Regular Army bands as before the war, when Cavalry and Guards Regiments, Infantry battalions and other Arms were provided with Staff or Unit bands; but the number of bands which will be required for the post-war Regular Army and their distribution among the various Arms cannot yet be finally settled. No financial provision for Territorial Army bands has been made for the period 1947–1948, but the future requirement of the Territorial Army are under consideration.

House adjourned at eleven o'clock.
