§ Sir S. CrippsImports of hardwood into this country from 1st January to 31st December, 1946, totalled 14,870,000 cubic feet; and from 1st January to 31st May, 1947, were 7,062,000 cubic feet. Imported hardwood is not allocated separately from home-grown. About a quarter of the total hardwood allocated for all purposes in each of the two periods mentioned was allocated to the manufacture of furniture.
