Mr. Byersasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if it is the policy of His Majesty's Government to issue entry permits to mothers of foreign nationality seeking domestic service in this country on condition that they do not bring with them their young children; and if he will now grant an entry permit to Romana Weilguni, who is a widow, and her small daughter aged five years so that mother and daughter shall not be separated.
§ Mr. EdeWhere a responsible householder wishes to engage a foreign woman for private domestic service, and is prepared to accommodate also a small child or children whom the mother wishes to bring with her, I do not propose to offer any objection. The answer to the second part of the Question is "Yes."
