§ The Prime MinisterNo such instruction has been issued to Departments generally. Departments whose duties were not diminishing, and which were unable already to show substantial staff reductions, were asked to indicate how their departmental services would be affected if they were required to reduce staff by 10 per cent. by 1st October 1947. Their replies have been most carefully 247W considered by His Majesty's Government, and I would refer the hon. Member to my statement on this subject on 24th June.
