HC Deb 04 July 1947 vol 439 c185W
Mr. Skinnard

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what steps have been taken to obtain adequate equipment and staff for the Georgetown, British Guiana, Fire Brigade; and what assistance is being given by the Government to those whose losses are not covered by insurance.

Mr. Creech Jones

An experienced Fire Brigade Officer has been appointed from the United Kingdom. New equipment is already on order, and more is about to be ordered. I have no information regarding the last part of the Question, but I will make inquiries of the Governor.
