§ Sir E. Graham-Littleasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he will now make a statement regarding the present position of the Buganda deportees.
Mr. Creech Jonesthe present position after the latest quarterly review, is as follows: One convicted and hanged for the murder of the Prime Minister of Buganda; one died; one convicted and imprisoned for fraud; two deported to 181W the Seychelles; two released unconditionally; six conditionally released, who are permitted to go anywhere in Uganda with the exception of an area of roughly 40 miles from Kampala. (Two of the six, being poor men, have, however. been allowed to return to their homes in areas which are closed to other deportees) and seven still under detention at Moroto in Uganda.
