HC Deb 02 July 1947 vol 439 c168W
Mr. Skeffington-Lodge

asked the Minister of Works whether a decision has yet been reached in the case of metal railings and gates requisitioned for war purposes, either to replace them where desired, or to compensate their owners for their removal.

Mr. Key

The policy of the Government in this matter remains as stated by my predecessor in reply to my hon. Friend the Member for West Leyton (Mr. Sorensen) on 13th November, 1945. The Government cannot accept responsibility for the replacement of such railings nor can any payment be made over and above the compensation legally payable.
