Mr. Peter Freemanasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware of the present shortage of willows in Newport, which is likely to cause unemployment among the blind; and what steps are being taken to augment the supply by increasing the quantity of home-grown willows and permitting a larger quantity to be imported from abroad.

Mr. Longdenasked the President of the Board of Trade if his attention has been called to the shortage of willows experienced by such institutions as the Birmingham Royal Institution for the Blind, so making it difficult to keep many men and women employed; and if he will inquire into the situation with a view to causing an ample increase in the supply of willows through either home production or importations, or both.
