§ Mr. BellengerThe time varies with the location of the candidate, his availability to attend a board and the availability of the board. Borderline cases moreover have to be specially reviewed at the War Office. Steps have recently been taken to improve the procedure in the War Office and to increase the staff dealing with applications. As a result, in straightforward cases in this country and in Rhine Army the average time taken is between six and eight weeks. For candidates serving further afield two to four weeks more must be added and borderline cases may take still longer.
