§ 122. Major Bramallasked the Secretary of State for War why men of age and service Group 47 serving in Japan were delayed so that they will not arrive in this country until the end of their release period, when their replacements had already arrived in Japan and a ship was leaving half-empty which could have brought them home for release at the beginning of their release period.
§ Mr. BellengerI have no reason to suppose that all these men in Group 47 apart from any who may be compulsorily deferred will not arrive in this country in time to be released in the period allotted to their age and service group. In that case they will not be justified in complaining. Availability of shipping space and arrival of replacements are only two of a number of factors that may have to be taken into account, by the overseas command.164W Men have no grounds for complaint provided that they are released in this country within the period allotted to their age and service group.
