§ Mr. Piratinasked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether, in view of the Government's holding of shares in the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company, he will state the terms of the agreement regarding oil reached between that company and the Standard Oil Company of New Jersey; and whether the agreement includes an arrangement for the protection of the oil interests by U.S. troops.
§ Mr. ShinwellThe arrangement between the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company and the Standard Oil Company is an ordinary 75W commercial one and as such it would be quite inappropriate to make public its terms. No such arrangements as are suggested in the second part of the Question could be negotiated between commercial companies and the answer is, of course, in the negative.
