§ 103. Mr. Molsonasked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster whether the Trading with the Enemy Act still applies to the British zone of Germany; and whether he will make a statement on the matter.
§ Mr. J. HyndYes, Sir, the Act still applies, although a number of relaxations have already been made to allow of the despatch of newspapers, periodicals, gift parcels and certain kinds of commercial correspondence. Licences to trade have also been granted to certain special organisations such as N.A.A.F.I. and U.N.R.R.A., and business visits to Germany are permitted in selected cases. Exploratory discussions are now proceeding with a view to the reopening of trade relations with the British and American zones, but in this matter we must act in conjunction with the United States Government
