HC Deb 21 January 1947 vol 432 cc28-9W
Mr. Law

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether he is aware that wartime employees of the Government of India in the Indian Ordnance Service have not been granted furlough on their discharge from the service, in spite of the fact that specific undertakings were given when such personnel were recruited at the Office of the High Commissioner for India; and whether he will take immediate steps to have the matter rectified.

Mr. A. Henderson

Yes, Sir; I am glad to say that the Government of India on reconsideration have now agreed to a concession which will cover the great majority of the cases affected. They are issuing orders accordingly to the High Commissioner for India who will communicate with the persons concerned as early as practicable.
