HC Deb 21 January 1947 vol 432 c20W
104. Mr. Bossom

asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster if he will give a list of the items that are being obtained from the British zone in Germany to compensate the British taxpayers for the funds they are providing for food for the German people.

Mr. J. Hynd

The main export which the United Kingdom has received from the British zone of Germany is timber, and quantities of lead, steel scrap, potash and various miscellaneous items have also been imported by the United Kingdom from the zone. Exports to the United Kingdom, and those to other countries help to pay for German import requirements, including food.
