HC Deb 21 January 1947 vol 432 c1W
63. Colonel Crosthwaite-Eyre

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in view of the breach of the loan agreement contained in the Anglo-Argentine Agreement, His Majesty's Government propose to approach the Argentine Government to effect a modification in the method of disposal of Argentine sterling balances.

Mr. Dalton

I assume that the hon. and gallant Member refers to Section II (b) of the Anglo-Argentine Agreement regarding payments. The probability of a deficit between the Argentine and the Sterling Area during the coming four years is hypothetical, and in my view consideration of this hypothetical question may be deferred until there is some reasonable prospect of its becoming actual.
