HC Deb 27 February 1947 vol 433 c315W
56. Mr. Osborne

asked the Minister of Labour if, at the end of the coal crisis, he intends industry to restart on a regular four-day week or to work three full weeks and close down entirely the fourth week, or stagger shifts from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. so as to even out the electricity peak loads; and if he will make as early an announcement as possible of the course to he followed.

Mr. Isaacs

In consultation with the National Joint Advisory Council, it has been decided that arrangements for restarting in areas affected by the fuel cuts shall be co-ordinated by the regional board for industry concerned in collaboration with the two sides of each main industry in the region. The exact arrangements will be determined in the light of the circumstances of each industry and locality.
