asked the Minister of Fuel and Power how many tons of oil per month are now being burnt in place of coal as the result of his coal to oil conversion campaign.

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether he has any figures showing what has been the weekly increase in the consumption of fuel oil in this country following his advice to industry to turn to oil fuel wherever possible.

Mr. Shinwell

The amount of oil burnt by industry and transport, including gas works and railways, but excluding mobile internal combustion engines, amounted to 257,200 tons in January last, as compared with 163,000 tons in January, 1946.
