HC Deb 26 February 1947 vol 433 c291W
85. Lady Noel-Buxton

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what qualifications are required for members of Colonial co-operative departments to be selected for a course of special training in this country.

Mr. Creech Jones

Colonial Governments have sent individual officers of the co-operative departments for courses in this country and elsewhere, the selections being madead hocand usually from senior staff. I am glad to say that by the generous co-operation of the Co-operative College authorities at Loughborough I have been able to invite Colonial Governments to send officers to a special study course for Colonial co-operative staff to be instituted at the Co-operative College in the autumn. The course is intended for junior members of Colonial co-operative staffs who have had some practical experience (if possible as much as five years) in a co-operative department or cooperative section of a Department of Agriculture. They should be about 30 years of age and have passed at least the equivalent of the Senior Cambridge examination.
