HC Deb 24 February 1947 vol 433 c248W
Sir M. MacDonald

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what are the numbers of vacant crofter holdings in the island of Skye on State-owned land; and what is the total acreage of arable land so unoccupied.

Mr. Westwood

The answer to the first part of the Question is 46. The total area of arable and enclosed individual pasture is 902 acres, of which approximately 250 are arable. All but three of the vacant holdings are being cultivated or grazed.
