asked the Minister of Transport the cost of altering the bollards at the corner of Brompton Road and Beauchamp Place, to reduce them to standard height; who was responsible for the erection of these bollards in the first place; and what steps have been taken to prevent a recurrence.

The cost of altering the bollards was £617s. 8d. and the responsible authority is the Kensington Borough Council. In March last year my right hon. Friend advised highway authorities of the action they should take in relation to the recommendations of the Departmental Committee on Traffic Signs which, on this point, is that bollards

by the railway companies on 31st December in the years 1926, 1936 and 1946.
