HC Deb 24 February 1947 vol 433 cc233-4W
33. Mr. Monslow

asked the Minister of Supply if he is able to give any indication as to the future of Barrow Steel Works.

current freight rates quoted for these two areas are the rates fixed by my Ministry for ships directed to load there on Ministry of Food account. The rates charged by foreign tonnage vary considerably, but are, in general, higher than the British directed rates.

Mr. Wilmot

So far as can be tore-seen, the plant will continue to be-operated as at present.
