HC Deb 20 February 1947 vol 433 c210W
100. Mr. Renton

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether he is aware that a number of R.A.F. stations are in possession of oil-burning emergency lighting sets; and whether arrangements have been made for such sets to be used wherever possible, with a view to saving coal.

Mr. Shinwell

Yes, Sir. My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Air had already agreed to stand by generating sets at R.A.F. stations being used to the fullest extent during peak load periods to relieve the public supply. During the present emergency these standby sets have been used wherever possible to save coal.
