HC Deb 20 February 1947 vol 433 c223W
Mr. Stokes

asked the Secretary of State for War how many German prisoners of war are still detained in British camps in Germany; and whether he will state the main reasons for their continued detention in their own country.

Mr. Bellenger

817 senior officers are detained as prisoners of war in Germany. They are all in categories detained under the demilitarisation and deNazification Laws, and are held pending recategorisation. This is now proceeding and should be completed by this summer.
