§ Mr. Granvilleasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he is satisfied with the recruitment in the educational branch of his Department.
Mr. Creech JonesI assume that the question refers to recruitment for the Colonial Education Service to which 3ro appointments have been made since June, 1945. The present shortage of qualified teachers has precluded the keen competition which exists in some other branches of the service, but on the whole I am satisfied both with the numbers and quality of candidates coming forward.
