HC Deb 19 February 1947 vol 433 cc178-9W
Mr. Bossom

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies how many governmental officials and employees, other than direct Service personnel, are now employed in the administration in Malaya; and how many were required to handle the same tasks prior to 1942.

Mr. Creech Jones

The necessary information is not available in this country, and I have, therefore, asked the Governors for a report. I will write to the hon. Member as soon as I have received it. It would, however, be quite erroneous to say that the Civil Services in the Malayan Union and Singapore are handling the same tasks as before the war.
