HC Deb 17 February 1947 vol 433 cc139-40W
Mr. G. Roberts

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General if he is aware that the telephone kiosks at Abererch and Chwilog, Caernarvonshire, are still without lighting facilities; that this is causing hardship to the population of these rural localities in present weather conditions when these kiosks are frequently used for summoning medical and veterinary aid; and whether he will take immediate steps to remedy the position.

Mr. Burke

Lighting was installed in the Abererch kiosk on 21st January, 1947. Arrangements are now in hand for lighting the kiosk at Chwilog.

Mr. G. Roberts

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General if he is aware of the hardship caused to the population of the rural district of Lleyn, Caernarvonshire, particularly during the hard weather, by the lack of lighting facilities in telephone kiosks, which are frequently tire only means of summoning medical and veterinary assistance to outlying farms; and if he will take immediate steps to remedy the position.

Mr. Burke

Of the 61 telephone kiosks in the Lleyn district of Caernarvonshire, 27 have lighting. In 29 cases, no electric power supply is available. In the remaining five, arrangements will be made for lighting as soon as the necessary components are available.
