§ Sir E. Graham-Littleasked the Minister of Education whether the Interim Committee, the formation of which has been announced, is designed to supersede the recommendations of the McNair Committee, which reported in May, 1944; to what extent it is intended to over-ride the McNair Committee's recommendation that the normal teachers' training course should he three years, not two; and whether the teachers' associations had been consulted before this announcement was made.
§ Mr. Tomlinsonthe recommendations of the McNair Committee are in no way affected by the setting up of the Teachers' Interim Committee. I endorse the acceptance in principle already announced by my predecessor of the particular recommenda-138W tion that the normal course for students entering upon their training at about 18 years of age should be extended to three years Teachers' associations were consulted in connection with the establishment of the Teachers' Interim Committee and are represented on it.
