Mr. King

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what proportion of the food and administration costs in the British zone of Germany have to be provided in dollars.

Mr. Dalton

In the calendar year 1946, about 33 per cent. of the net expenditure on essential imports, including food, had to be provided in dollars. The dollar expenditure of the administrative expenses of the Control Commission is very small.
